1949 Oldsmobile 76 coupe front brake question
Working on a 1949 Olds 76 coupe (Olds 455, TH400) The front drums are currently stock. Going to convert these to 49 88 front brakes. My question is the stock 76 wheel cylinders are 1 1/8" whereas the 88's are 1 3/32". The shoes for the 88 are slightly larger than the 76. My question is, the larger wheel cylinders, 1/32 difference are readily available, but the 1 3/32" are harder to find, and expensive when compared to the 1 1/8" cylinders. Will the 1/32" make a difference, when considering the larger 88 brake shoes? I think with the different driveline, and the slightly larger shoes, the increase in brake volume/pressure will be negligible at best, and honestly, i cannot believe this is really a big issue at all. I would guess that many people run around with the larger cylinders on, without a second thought, and if they are both replaced in a pair, will have little to no effect. Thanks in advance, I appreciate the advice!

I have N.O.S. ++ Asbestos ++ Brake Shoes, Wheel Cylinders, Brake Hoses, Wheel Bearings & Seals, & Brake Drums & Front HUB & DRUMS for this application.....
Would have to look up what you're asking about -- as I am in the library to use the computer; and my catalogs are in the home / office.....
Off the top of my head 1949 Oldsmobile should be the old # 160 Brake Shoe ----- 11" x 2 1/2" ------- and I have them in N.O.S. ++ Asbestos ++
