Project Started! and a question.. 72 S Rust

Got a good start on my summer/fall project on my 72 S. Hoping for some rust repair and suspension work (as well as some MAWs I'm sure)

Here is my question, I'm am going to fabricate some patches for where the fender heel attaches to the body and there is enough damage its hard to completely reverse engineer. The pic below is the passenger side where the fender heel attaches... does anybody have a good pic of this area? I know what the fender itself needs, and the inner part of this seems to be fairly obvious..but what about that area I circled? Could someone explain what that piece is supposed to look like complete?

Thanks!
Tim

well I just did what you are about to do. Don't freak out its not a major repair. simply put that piece that looks like its torn off is a rectangle with a 7/8 hole drilled in the middle

That's what decided as well, I have been slowly working through this spot. After a lot of cardboard templates I've got once side pretty much re-assembled and did just that with a rectangle, but still bent the tab to approximate what was there. This area is a far cry from just a fender patch, but I'm getting there!

Thanks for the reply.
