Yes, I started this project 26 years ago
Over the weekend, I disassembled a project that I started 26 years ago. **Normal, ran out of money, got married, etc. Etc. It has sat on that engine stand the entire time. Every few years I un-bagged it, put some oil in the cylinders and spun her by hand.
Here is what was done to it, 26 years ago. *
Bored .030 over
Balanced
New TRW l2323's
Rods reconditioned, machined and polished.
Crank magnafluxed, *oil holes chambered, *.020 on rods, and .010 on mains
Crane cam- lift 491/518 duration 226/234,
and a Torker intake that has sat on the shelf for 26 years.
Why tear it down? After 26 years accumulated some dust and debris, I not nearly as excited about silicone sellers as I used to be, and hopefully I am a better mechanic now. **Most importantly if you look at the lifter valley, I could only get about half of the lifters in at the time. *They were crane lifters. *My local engine shop guy, said tear it down and he would look at it, and give me his thoughts.
After 26 years, I have changed my mind on what I want this build to be. *I would like 425-455 hpr, *and 500+lbs of torque. Going in a Cutlass with air and power brakes. Probably, will go different cam and performer intake.
I would appreciate your thoughts as well.

Maybe, I was too broad in asking for general thoughts. Here are a couple of my questions.
Over the 26 years, did the L2323 change any in design that would make a difference in the CR?
From what I have read over several forums, is the CR will not be anywhere the stated 10.25:1. Am I correct that I need a true 80 cc or less head volume, with 0 deck to reach the 9.5-9.75 I desire?
Does anyone see anything, I should be aware of?
Thanks

What pistons did you use on the first build? Were the e heads completely stock? Or were they milled any?
