Trunk pan replacement.

Let me start by saying I have never welded before. I have a 1970 cutlass convertable that the trunk pan needs to be replaced in. Is this something I can tackle myself or should I let a professional take care of?

Well IMHO

Ya need to learn how. The trickey part is where the rear quarters meet the trunk on the inside. Unfortunately it's also an area prone to rust.

You might consider a local trade school class in welding.

You can practice welding on some scrap metal. Some vocational/trade schools have classes you can take that last just a few weeks that show you the basics. Before you weld on the car you'll want to learn the basics.

Anytime you can do these type of repairs yourself you will save alot of money, but you want to get the same results that you would if you took it to a professional.

Will a 110V MIG welder work? Or do I need something special?

Yes, but make sure it has the capabilities of using the gas with it.
