Thumbs up The end of the roof restoration

Oooops!

And here the parts I need to restore my car!

The quarter window seals (if it is possible new) with the inside retainer, and the vinyltop left chrome corner molding (Brocken in the middle) with the holding screws also for the right side.

Could anyone help me to find this parts? Sorry, my English is not very well. If you have some questions, please ask me.

Mike

Welcome to the site Mike! Yes, vinyl tops will often hold moisture against the metal and rot out the roof. Be sure and check the front and back windshield channels as I've seen the vinyl wick water into those locations and rot out the window channel.

I would encourage you to make another thread in the parts wanted forum. Tell us what year your car is and that you need the back seat behind the door window channel seals. And post the last picture here in that thread. If you need help with this let me know. John

Hello guys, today I brought my Olds to the body shop. There she will now overwinter and will be repaired.
I will drop by and post some photos of the restoration.

Mike, that's awesome!

Where did you find the new vinyl top? Was it just sourced by the body shop?

Exclamation

Hi and thanks for your compliments.

@ Olds64: I received the new vinyl top at Submit Racing.

It is so difficult to get this car in good condition here in Switzerland.

It's getting harder and harder to find any parts for this car.

Now it turns out that the wrong Windshield has arrived!

I'm desperate!

Hello

Now it turned out that the windshield was intended for a 2 door coupé. That does not fit, which is about 5 centimeters too short!

Well, another is now on the way, hopefully the right one!

In the meantime, we have cleaned the car and started assembling, it will be fine, the car looks great again!

Mike

Hello friends

The car body shop had summer holidays but now I have holidays.
It comes to the end, it was hard and difficult work to repair the car.
The windshield is finally the right one and mounted.
It looks better every day.
I have almost all the parts back on the car except for the inner linings which have to be partially repainted.

Mike

Mike, the car is looking great! Can't wait to see pics when you get it outside.

When you paint the A & B pillar covers I suggest you use an adhesion promoter/primer. I painted the lower B pillar covers on my 71 98 with rattle can plastic paint and the paint didn't adhere very well. On the other hand, I used a rattle can adhesion promoter under the SS urethane before I painted the bumper on my wife's Kia and it turned out great. This is similar to what I used:

Hello everybody

@ Olds64:
No, I did not prime, I roughened, washed, degreased and painted the surface.
I hope the color holds, we have 35 ° degrees, maybe it will help!

@DrOldsMN:
I've always found four-door sedans sexy!

And yes, I can not wait to finally see the car outside and drive with it.
I hope he finishes this week, I still have to mount the headliner and the pillar covers again.

Mike

I think they'll be fine. Make sure you post a pic of the headliner and pillar covers when you get them installed. That is one bad@$$ Olds!

Hello friends
The project is coming to an end.
There are still a few small things to do in the body shop.
Tomorrow my baby is allowed to go back home, I am very happy, then I can finally mount the headliner and the pillar covers again.
The Olds looks great, better than I thought, now she will be an eyecatcher again!

Here are a few pictures of the lower door panels and the c pillar covers which I painted myself.

By the way, google translates what I write, I hope it does not sound too catastrophic!

My wife speaks English very well but she is not always here, so I try it myself!

Mike

She looks great again!
More pictures will follow!

Hello friends

The project is over and my Olds is finally back home.

It was an intense time with spare parts looking to turn the car back into a beauty.

There were successes but also some setbacks that had to be put right again.

The Oldsmobile looks great again and I am sure that there is no second one in Switzerland in this condition.

I would also like to thank all of you who have helped me so much in the search for spare parts and have supported me to repair my Oldsmobile again.

Here are some photos of the car!

Mike
