Vinyl roof cracking on 72 98
Vinyl roof cracking on 72 98
Seems like my vinyl roof is finally giving in to 50+ years of sun etc. I noticed a couple areas where it seemed dry and now noticing cracks. I know the correct solution is : get it redone. Any guesses what that usually costs? Obviously if theres rust etc underneath it that changes everything.
I may try and just put some shoe goo or something just to keep it from flapping in the breeze (Ill upload pics shortly) but curious what others have done.
Thanks.

Even if you store the car in a garage the best bet would probably be to remove the vinyl top that has failed. 10+ years ago I got a quote to install a vinyl top on my 71 98 and it was several thousand dollars. I didn't have it done because I wasn't impressed with the shop or the owner.
Don't throw in the towel on the thought of replacing the top right away. Check for local shops that do this type of work. I know the prices vary per area that we live in but when I was looking to do mine on my 72 Cutlass last year I was getting quotes from $1000-$1500. The problem that I ran into was everyone was "booked". After watching videos of others doing it I chose to knock it out myself. It was a tedious job that required patience but I am glad that I did it. The top, adhesive and cheap spray gun from Harbor Freight had me in about $450 if I remember correctly. Here's a link to my thread that I posted when I was all done.
