trim and emblem installation

What are you guys using to seal the speed nuts, etc. when re-installing emblems and chrome trim on the doors , fenders, hood, etc? Seems GM used some sort of sticky/putty on the nuts to seal out any chance of water seepage.Thanks.

I used strip caulk, in the old days we used to call it dumb dumb.
