Shims?

I need to adjust my trunk lid. One side is lower than the other. all other side are good. The fisher body manuel says to shim it. Are there special shims are can I use washers to get the same affect. The car is a driver not a 1000pt trailer queen.

There were(are) specific shims that are used on the decklids...sort of a larger version of the front fender shims. BUT....a shim is a shim is a shim...if you get my point. Use whatever works to create the extra gap.
