Removal of side chrome on 65 442
Removal of side chrome on 65 442
I am wanting to have the pot metal trim re-chromed. I know I will need to take the door panel off to get at the speed nuts on the door trim but how do you remove the piece behind the stainless trim on front fender? I should probably get the body manual...only have chassis manual. Thought I would check here to see if anyone here has done this. Thanks
Thanks Stan....I really don't want to take the fender off but I guess It might come down to that. I will try the "weasel" method first. I will try to figure out how to post a pic of my car. Just purchased it last Spring. I know, I'll ask my Grandson.... He'll know ! Ha ha. Take care...thanks again

I have done it without removing the fender. Remove the lower/upper rear bolts, remove the liner bolts and pull the fender away from the body. You should be able to get just enough room to get in there. Its a pain but the only other option.
well, I finally got in the garage to work on my car...your suggestion work great Scotty....did have to release several bolts as you said. now just gotta figure where to take this to get redone. I had the console chrome done by Pauls in Pennsylvania..beautiful...expensive. May just send it back out there to him...that is after I save up a bunch of money ! Guess you get what you pay for when dealing with pot metal. Have you ever taken the window glass out of the vent window? I have the vent windows out and separated from the assembly...just need to get the glass out so I can get the frame replated. I can do a search but thought I would ask first. Thanks for the help !
