1968 cutlass Quarter panels

I have a original 68 Cutlass Convertible which I started stripping. I need quarter panels or skins , as well as inner fenders outer section for vboth drivers and passengers sides. Can anyone recommend were I can get these parts.I have seen many places selling only quarter skins which are most probably made in China

thanks Bruce

You are going to have get quarter skins for a hardtop and you are going to have to modify it to fit. There are no replacement quarters for a 68 Convertible. I just ordered one for my 68 convertible from the Parts Place.

Yes it is. I have not put it on yet. Just finished yesterday removing the outer wheel housing. The fender, the quarter and wheel housing have on them made in China. One of the members said he bought his quarters from Tabco. But I have never bought anything from that vendor. But I believe their sheet metal is American made. Right now The Parts Place has a 10% discount.

Yes I bought all the sheet metal from them. If you decide to use them make sure you order all your sheet metal at one time because the quarters and fenders have to be shipped freight and that is a little costly. I don't have any pictures just yet but, I go out and take pictures of where I am right now but here is a very good thread from 69442c about his restoration on a 69 convertible. https://classicoldsmobile.com/forums...n-project.html

Hi Bruce,
I needed a new driver side quarter panel for my '68 4-4-2 convertible. We looked all over the country but could not find a good one. My body guy said he could adapt a repro hardtop quarter into the convertible so that's what we did and they did a great job. I've attached some pics that show a bit of the work they did. They cut out the original panel some 2-3 inches below the peak so the hardtop panel could be fitted into the car.

Here's another option. It was fairly easy to fit it. I butt welded it and I had access to the back of the weld to grind everything smooth.

I would strongly recommend this approach. Using the minimum of Chinesium metal is better, and I've seen a lot of cars where the weld line at the top of the quarter shows up once the completed car is parked in the sun and the metal expands. Keeping the weld at the high-crown area minimizes this problem.
