Working on my 64' Cutlass / F-85 and I'm wondering if anyone has a "best route" to get rid of that huge bulge inside the rear fender. -pics attached of what I'm talking about.
If this was flat, or removed, the size tire that could for in the back could increase pretty significantly.
I'm sure some have done rid of this inner fender bump, just looking for what people have found to be the most successful and clean method.

I could cut that "buldge" out very carefully with a wheel...bit then I'm concerned about keeping that sharp metal away from the tire!
Weld it to the fender after cutting? This wout likely mess up the paint on the other side, which while isn't perfect, I don't plan on painting any time soon.
Use panel bond material to hold it in place? Never used it so my personal confidence is not there for it to hold and look good.

Help
If you have the skills, cutting it out and welding it smooth is the way to go. I don't know about the panel bond.
Here's a shot of the rear in my '65 Cutlass/442 clone, daily driver. It had a '70 8.5, type "O" rear end, which is an inch wider than the stock rear, with 275/60 15 BFG Drag Radials on it. At the track, I ran 28 x 9 slicks. Both sets of tires were on 15 x 7 SS III factory wheels. I had the body shop next door to me "massage" the inner wheel wells with large hammer and a little heat. The rear suspension was also modified to lift, rather than squat under acceleration. Edit: Just found a picture of a picture that I have in my office, of the car coming off of the line. Sorry for the quality. Quarters look factory from the outside.
