Has anybody tried welding the frame off a post door on a hardtop door?

Not trying to waste your time but just wanted to put it out there, I did the exact opposite, I removed the posts from a 65 Cutlass body for my 442, from two-door sedan to holiday coup and it came out awesome. I had to weld in the top piece of the entire opening ( parallel to the rain gutters where coup windows rolled up into after weatherstripping) on both sides from the coup to eliminate the post track.
I'm sure it's a money issue but if possible I wouldn't attempt to do that to the doors I would just get the correct doors. That's what I did when I took the tracks off. Good luck either way!
