OAI hood Airbox or Not

Hello im looking at buying a OAI hood for my 76 442 and was wondering if its worth to spend 150 more dollars on the airbox than not to? i also have no idea what the Airbox would even do? http://www.vfnfiberglass.com/6880cutlass.htm

The airbox is the ducting on the underside of the hood that seals to the O.A.I. adapter on the air cleaner to make the hood functional. Without the airbox, the hood is for looks only.

if i do not have the adapter should i just buy the pin on look a like without the airbox? the airbox hood is bolt on

Don't forget you'll need lighter springs as well or you'll crack the hood.

I would get the one with the airbox because even if you don't have an air cleaner that will work with it right now, it will be something that you can add later on.

where could i pick up lighter springs do you know? what about the hinges. Thanks!

If you talk to them they would be able to hook you up with what will work for the hood.

Pin on vs. bolt on and hinged is your call. Pin on hoods are slightly lighter, but can flex due to airflow as a result. I had a problem with the leading edge of a pin-on hood fluttering at highway speeds until I added two more pins. Of course, the bigger problem is where do you put the hood when it's off? Lay it on the ground and it gets stepped on. Use a blanket to put it on the roof and you probably need two people to get it off and on. The bolt-on hood eliminates this problem. You can run it without any springs and just use a prop rod also.

Thanks for your Answer Joe, Bolt on It is! Hopefully this hood looks as good as Kens.
