lower windshield channel

Well my cool 68 Cutlass turned out to be not so cool. Pulled the lower chrome trim off to paint the top of the cowl and was shocked to find 95% of the windshield channel rusted away. Don't need the whole cowl just the 2" wide patch panel that OPGI has but they don't list one in the Cutlass catalog but they do have one in the Chevelle catalog for a 68, is this the same as the Cutlass. Even thou I'm a stock car fabricator by trade I welcome all advice. Thanks. Gil...

Unfortunately, this is all too common. The Chevelle channel can be made to work. Some fitting and fabrication will be required, but it beats starting from scratch. Check the rest of the pinchweld around the windshield and back window, as you are likely to find more rust.
