Cowl and Dash Rust

I have the chance to pick up a very nice 70 442. The only issue is the dash and cowl are rusted due to leaves and other debree. Do they make reproduction pieces for this, or would I need to cut them out of another car. If the dash is replaced, is it legal to swap the VINS and would it depreciate the value. The quarters, doors, and frame are all solid on the car. According to my body guy he can weld in some new metal and use figerglass to fix the issue, but he isn't sure how long it would last. I am looking to do a frame off on the car and don't want to move forward if the dash is going to be an issue later on.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
JD

I JUST went through restoring my dash. I believe many will agree, if you're going to do it, then do it right. Fiberglass MIGHT last, but i doubt it. You need to buy a new piece of metal, and yes they make reproduction pieces.

See page 3 of my build thread. Yours probably doesnt look as bad as mine did.

Contact Eric (jensenracing), Scott (Oldspackrat) or John (2blu442).

Between those 3 guys they should have something for you. And theyre all great to work with.

Best of Luck.
