Chicagoland Area

Was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for bodywork and paint in the Chicagoland area. I have a 1971 Cutlass Supreme Convertible that I just recently got running again. The car is from Arizona originally so the body is in pretty good shape but had been repainted and has a little rust on the usual spot on the bottoms of both fenders along with a dent on one fender that looks like it may have been from someone bumping something into it not an accident. It also has a few dings in the doors and hood that would need to be addressed. The front fenders and hood would also have to be aligned a little after I replace the worn out body bushings. I was thinking of painting it the original Cameo White or switching to Nordic Blue, Viking Blue or Lime Green.

Well, being from Chicagoland myself I know that's a pretty big place. If you're on the south side, there used to be a place, Dave's Body Shop in Beecher. I took a couple cars there and he always did a good job. Now, that was probably 25 years ago, but if Dave is still around he will still be hiring quality workers.

Talk to Tony at One Stop Collision, Chicago Ridge 708-425-7867. Great shop a few techs there have Oldsmobiles. Tony has a 69 cutlass vert himself.

Thanks. I’m 4 miles from there. I’m not sure if I wan’t to do the paint myself but definitely don’t want to do the the dent and rust on the fenders.

Avoid Old Coach Works in Yorkville like they are the PLAGUE. I have used them and pulled my car from them in the past. I used to live in IL but moved to Texas 2 years ago.

Talk to Paul at kards inc. in Elgin IL. Great guy and he is an Oldsmobile guy. He is right up the road from me and although I strictly do heavily collision I always recommend him to olds folks for resto work.
