Body Mounts

I have a 1970 Cutlass Supreme and I have been looking at my body mounts. I could be totally missing it but the mounts in the center of the car do not appear to be bolted in but have some kind of rubber nipple that fits into a hole on the chassis. Is this correct or am I missing something?

As shown in both the Chassis Service Manual and the Product information Manual. Mount #3 is a plug (no bolt) for all 2dr body styles except convertibles. Mount #4 is a plug for all except station wagons.

I have a 1972 cutlass supreme body and I currently have the body off frame (,prevesious owner took body off changed mounts)
and the #3 and #4 have nuts inside floor, I assume it is bolted like #2? 5 are just bushings. My problem is I bought a body mount set from fusick no instructions no numbers or color coated and I have 2 mounts with metal inserts that are thinner in size than the other 8. any idea where the thinner one go?

I could "guess", but I'm not going to. Did you evaluate the details contained in the diagram of the 1972 PIM?

Yes that, and the chassis book, Fusick, inline. Nobody has a clue. Lol I didn't take them out so I can't match them up. They r 1/8 thinner and a smaller bolt hole, thinking being thinner it would be in a spot where weight would be the most minimum and I would say the rear.

Suggest you evaluate (add up) the actual part numbers & locations.

I Did that does not show thicknesses. Mine has no numbers and are all black. If you see something I didn't please share because this is driving me nuts
OK so it's goes in #2 or #3 as the others have same number

I see two part numbers for washers 9774425 & 388864 (OPT.) one is stated as OPT. - I have no readily apparent idea why 388864 is listed OPT. If something rears its obvious head, I'll let you know. That's often the issue w/ aftermarket vendors/suppliers - no actual part number, no instructions/illustrations.

Likely a delta between stations wagon(s), the body mount plug & the washer used. Evaluate the actual "frame" illustration to see if it provides a hint. I note I believe four different "frame" illustrations. Sorry.

I'll try looking up the part numbers for you to see if any addt'l info. can be obtained. I sometimes get myself into trouble doing that since often times part numbers are rescinded &/or replaced. I'll see what comes up.

388864 appears to be a lock washer?

Sorry I'm unable to assist further other than providing you the PIM diagram. There "are" other members who have replaced body mount h/w, be patient, someone might provide additional assistance. Good Luck!

I've seen some of the members installing color-coded body mount(s) plug(s) & h/w in other threads on this forum numerous times. Not sure where they ordered from. Hang in there, someone will likely come to your rescue.
