Blast Cabinet Media...Help

What type of media should I use to remove paint and surface rust on small parts in a blast cabinet?

what kind of parts?

and what type of finish do you want, I use glass beads in my small cabinet, but I also have some aluminum oxide which can be very agressive, and you can always use play sand! if it is electrical like a starter armature or something you want to get a tumbler and use walnut shells etc.

sand and glass beads gets duller as you use it, aluminum oxide gets sharper, be sure to wear a dust mask even though you are using a cabinet, silica in your lungs is very unhealthy.

A buddy of mine let me use his blasting cabinet, with alum. oxide. It cleans really good and even "smooths" out areas that are really bad. I did the original wheels and they came out great.
PS: Did that young man outside of St. Louis ever get rid of the Cutlass you got the doors from?? Just curious.... Take care!

My son and I recently purchased a Blasting Cabinet from HF. There were acouple of things that we had to do to bring it up to our working standards- Just read the reviews at HF.com, before buying.

We used aluminim oxide on a bunch of parts that we are using underhood. It really blasts off the rust and debris very well- Just make sure and do not get to much dirt/rocks/wood in your cabinet otherwise the gun will get plugged-We have done that a couple of times already...We use walnut shells on aluminum parts and and paint removal only- Have not tried glass beads yet.

Good buy at HF $175
