Advise please new guy! Pics

Yellow!

I bought my new 72 cutlass s……

The body is in pretty good condition minus the rear quarter. I plan on getting a OEM quarter from goodmark and doing both sides and outer wheel wells….that fixes the rear minus the piece between the bumper and the trunk, I can’t find anyone that sells that piece…. I’m hoping it can be straigthen but I’m not a body guy.

I’ve called around to several body shops and it looks like its going to cost 1k per side, wowzer! Does that sound right? Just to install and primer.

I added some pics.

Thoughts and comments are greatly appriciated…

My plan is to make the car a 442 w-30 clone, and I’m looking forward to getting there.

I was leaning towards fiberglass but i’m worried they will not match up, so right now I’m leaning towards the OEM quarter from Goodmark.

I can add more pics if needed, thanks

does that price include putting it up on a frame rack to pull it first?

pull it no, the bumper isnt really on, the guy i bought it from only put one bolt in per side, so it moves up and down. the right side matches up, the driver is the only one that looks messed up, with new quarters and new trunk lid I thought that would fix it..

I looked on goodmark for that peice and doesnt look like they or anyone on google sells it.......

So what do you think i'm in for?

Thanks for the help, I cant get my other photos to add and I'm not a computer guy.

I am not 100% positive but I think its not made aftermarket. You will need to replace with used or fix that one. A good body man should be able to fix it.

I've managed a few shops, amd $1000 a side sounds way over to me! Unless that's a finished product - out the door!!
Especially if you're providing parts.
That qtr, calls for 12 - 15 hrs. of labor, and Chicago is at $46 an hour!
Labor rates vary by area, but I doubt it's at $80.
Even if you add to straighten the rear body panel, trunk floor, and some rust repair, unless you'r incuding paint - I'd shop!
Also ask to see a car that's had a qtr. installed - check the quality of their work!!

fingers crossed I can find someone not out to charge too much, even maaco wanted 900 a side. The car's previous owner just spray painted it black, so it need a paint job anyway. Maaco told me it would take 16hr but they still qouted 900.

what do you guys think about fiberglass? I was going with goodmark because they claim to be OEM, but I think i'd rather have fiberglass cause i'm in colorado and dont want to worry about rust.

thanks again guys
