My 70 supreme has a piece of chrome on the center of the hood. I do not see many with this piece. Is this an aftermarket thing or factory option. I have the build sheet but do not see anything related.

 

It is factory option, you would not see anything reflected on the build sheet. Standard issue trim for '70 Supreme's and SX's. A nice accent to a nicely shaped car.

No - I have never seen any repros and probably won't be given the limited market since everyone wants 442 parts. They are tough to find in good shape. I have a 70 SX Conv and mine (Northeast car) was badly pitted and I got a price of $300 to re-chrome as they need to fill in all the pits (potmetal is pricy top get re-done). You need to just keep searching and calling the places that sell used parts out west (check Hemmings). I lucked into one from Colorado that is not perfect but 90% pit-free and chrome still shiny.

FYI - The supremes/SX's had the hood and this spear. The 4 doors and wagons had the same hood but it was not drilled for the hood spear.
