1968 Cutlass Drivers side Non Remote Mirror

I have a 1968 Cutlass Drivers side Non Remote Mirror in decent shape however I do not want to risk marking the paint putting it back on as it has to slide into place and then must be secured somehow from the inside to keep it from jiggling. The factory had 2 large rivets that hold it. Does anyone know if the repop ones are screw on? Where is the best place to get one? Cheapest? Any help would be appreciated.

If I'm not mistaken , the mirror is held on by screws that are accessed via small holes on the top , using an allen wrench .

Concur with Frank. Those large rivets you mention just might be large screws that are stuck in place. On the top side of your mirror mount, there should be two holes directly above the "rivets" you mention. Look in there to see if there is an allen head in there. If so, you should be able to turn out those screws with an allen wrench. It might take a little time and penetrating oil to loosen the screws if they are indeed screws (they are supposed to be screws; I guess it's possible someone re-worked the mirror over the years). If you can loosen the screws, you should be able to slide the side mirror in place and tighten them again with your allen wrench without marking the paint.
