Underbody Paint Red Primer?

Underbody Paint Red Primer?
What is a correct under body color for 70 Cutlass? I have heard that GM used a red primer, and have seen so few cars that have been restored with the red primer on the underside or that like a real attempt at recreating the factory application. What is correct?. Where the undersides painted in red primer?.Any survivors out there that show what an underbody should look like.thanks.

From what I can fiind out, the floor pans were black when installed but when the body got primed some or all cars got the reddish primer completely underneath as did both my 71 Arlington built SX and my Lansing built 71 442, although on the 442 I haven't completely stripped the floors of its undercoating. I am including pictures of both cars, the SX first and then the 442. In the second two you can definetly see the black under the primer. It seems however everyone paints them black, maybe because its easier or maybe people just don't know or don't like the reddish color. It isn't a traditional primer as it is more reddish and it is semi-gloss. Glad you raised the point. It seems to me so many high dollar totally correct cars omit this detail of factory correctness. I'll be interested if others have noticed this.
