I dont know if it's the same on your 72' ,but on my 68' there are 3 bolts holding it down. There are 2 back towards the inner fender and one towards the core support. I have seen two different types carried by different suppliers. Hope this helps some.

Choose between the 455 mounting on the left, or 350 on the right. Two slightly different configurations...

That set of drawings Rob showed you is from the 72 Cutlass Assembly manual. The WAC site doesn't have the one for 72, but they do have the one for 71 which shows the identical information.

Sounds like you're talking about the rad support that's all corroded, not the battery tray? Might be worth just picking up a replacement from someone who's parting out these cars. The rad support isn't all that hard to get out.

BTW, when I took mine out this past fall I found that GM assembled the battery tray with nuts and bolts (above/below) and that meant I needed 2 sets of hands to undo them. Right now I have my inner liners out of the car. You'd say that would give me the edge for bolting in the tray, right? Wrong. The inner liner has to go in first before the tray goes back so it means another set of hands to properly secure it again.
Here's the link you missed on WAC when you were there: http://wildaboutcarsonline.com/membe...11__Part-2.pdf
