oai hood

oai hood

hey guys i juust bought a oai hood for my 72 cutlass. and also bought this hood pin kit

i dont know how to install it? i dont know where the 2 hood lock retainers go ?

Well the brackets bolt to the core support and the pins go in the hood. It's not all that difficult to set up as the holes should already be in the core support. All you have to do is remove the hood stops to bolt them down and it will all make sense. I'd show you mine but it's 11:30pm and I have to work in the morning.

The hood lock retainers fasten to the underside of the hood. That's what keeps the chrome hood pins from coming out when you rotate them to open the hood. If nobody else has some photos of this all installed, I'll try to snap some pic's and post later this weekend. John


Congrats on the purchase! The OAI hood really make a car stand out in the crowd!

Here's the hood lock retainer. The following pictures are the location on the core support for a 1971. I believe the 1972 uses the same locations.

Only two of the three bolt holes line up with holes in the core support. I didn't remember this and am not sure if this is correct or something with the parts I'm looking at. John

thanks alot guys..got it done this weekend.. it was a piece of cake. i just wanted to make sure i did it the right way. (i know some people if not all wont like the 22 inch rims. but well. your entitled to your opinion. i will not be keeping those rims on. they are just on right now)
