I used a place called Forty's Auto Body in Addison. It's a small shop and I only had him do a small job for me, but I was extremely impressed with his work. I specifically asked him to use the same single-stage as the rest of the car and he did it just how I asked. The small rust repair was done very nicely with metal and is invisible. It's a black car, and the resulting work was essentially perfect.

Check out American Auto Restoration, they are in Homer Glen, google their name and you can find their website. Had them paint my car 10 years ago and it still looks great. After my car was there they never had a problem with me stopping in and checking on the progress. I think like other shops they once and a while took in 'quick' jobs that delayed mine every so often so wherever you go try to get a good rough estimate on time. From what I can remember mine took about 4 1/2 months.

I should mention, no matter where you go, beware of any large deposits. I went along with a large up-front deposit at another shop, and they promptly stripped my car down and stopped working on it. A six week job turned into a year-and-a-half nightmare.

Thanks everyone.

As far as body work the car is from Alabama so it is not that bad.
I need one rear quarter panel and outer wheel well (rusted at the eyebrow) and I also need a front quarter (rusted bad near the bottom). I figure I need about $1000 in parts.

I figure paint and body work at around $6000 - $8000. I am not crazy about spending that kind of money but that is what I am hearing it will cost.

I use Bumper Tech in Lemont. Brian is a great guy to work with.

Check with Stowe's - over the bridge, south on 53!
Look at his extended cab '57 pickup, black with purple ghost flames, made from 2 bodies!
Or Gil's across from the 'yards' on Collins! [State]
