Fenders and paint/repair

I was wondering if I was able to get the old fenders off and take them to someone for the patch panels, could they be repainted to match the probably slightly faded color they are now? Or would it look terrible when reinstalled? I really don't want to repaint the entire car at this point.

Any color would be very difficult to match faded paint and you would notice it.
Red is nearly impossible.
A very good painter and a very good buff of whole car would be needed.

^^^THIS. Buff the car and you'll be amazed. Keep in mind that new BC/CC paint won't match the original lacquer anyway. Gloss will be different, for starters.

Yeah, this is a worry to me. He had already patched up the passenger side but it is bubbling some and the drivers side looks like it was prepped for a patch. Sanded a little and loose rust removed.

I mean, I guess I can live with it for now and just do the entire repaint eventually. Just not something I want to dump $10k or more into at this time. If getting a close match isn't a possibility then I wouldn't even be interested in removing the fenders because as it is now, they match the paint on the hood and doors perfect and anything that is a little off will make it look bad.
