Cutlass Tail Light Trim

My 69 Cutlass convertible tail lights have a "chrome" trim piece attached. The replacement ones do not have this trim piece. Is there a safe way to remove the trim piece and transfer it to the new lenses? What type of adhesive would be needed?

For the 1969 model year, the Cutlass S (two door) and 442 models did not get the chrome trim on the tail light lenses. F85, Cutlass (four door and wagon) and all Cutlass Supreme models did get the chrome. Since the only convertibles offered that year were the Cutlass S and 442, it would not have come with the chrome trim on the tail light lenses from the factory. The ones on your car likely were replaced at some time in the last half a century.

So, if this is the case, why do I not see tail lights for a Supreme, F85 or 4 door available with the chrome trim? They must be the same shape and style if mine were transplanted from another body style. Thanks.

Because all of those cars have already been turned into Faux-Four-Twos.

Look, a reproduction vendor needs to have a plausible business case for making reproduction parts. People restore 442s, not Cutlass four doors. The stamping and installation of those trim pieces is not an easy or inexpensive operation. Olds built about 118,000 cars without the trim out of a total production of 167,000, so odds are there are a lot more people looking for the ones without trim.
