Hello, I own an Oldsmobile Omega 1980 V6 2.8L sedan.
The bumper fillers on my car are deteriorating. If you even look at them, pieces start falling off.
I’ve searched online for new ones, or 3D‑printed replacements, but I can’t find anything.
Does anyone know how I can solve this problem?

I contacted them, but could not help me with my Omega. I will search for a Nova or other X-body, but Replica Plastics said this would not fit.
And their prices are not so low, that you think: Oh well, let's try it.

 

Here's another supplier. One of our members @jaunty75 replaced the bumper fillers on his Toronado. He could give you some good advice. Also, I'd wait to hear from one of our members on whether or not Nova bumper fillers would work. GM cars were pretty identical by 1980.

In the meantime i wil find out if there are companys here in my area which make a 3D scan (of parts ) of my bumperfillers.

 

Thanks for the plug, but my advice won't be so hot. I doubt you will find anyone making reproductions of bumper fillers for 1980 Omegas or Omegas of any year for the simple reason that Omegas are just not highly sought after in the collector car world, and there wouldn't be enough demand to justify a company spending the money to tool up to make reproductions. They wouldn't sell enough to recover their investment. I'm actually surprised that fillers were available for my Toronado because, while Toronados are a bit more collectible than Omegas, they're still not highly sought after in an absolute sense, at least for the second-generation models (1971 through 1978).

I would suggest looking for good used ones from a junkyard car, but that may be difficult because these fillers deteriorate due to age, not wear and tear. Any from a junkyard car will be just as old as yours, But you might get lucky.

The polymer that the fillers are made out of crystallize after several decades and become hard and brittle, just the way a rubber band stretched around, say, a deck of cards and then tossed in a drawer for a year or two, becomes stiff and brittle, has lost its stretchiness, and crumbles in your hands when you remove it from the deck.

I don't know anything about using 3D-printers to make fillers. If you go this way, let us know how you make out.
