71 Supreme fender installation

Hello all - I am almost done with my car, I am having a royal pain trying to get my OEM fenders reinstalled. The car is 100% original, I pulled the fenders off about a year ago to have car painted. Does anyone have any tips/tricks on how to align this up - having a very difficult time getting the fender aligned at the top corner of the door. Cannot get the crease to line up between fender and door, unfortunately I did not record what shims went where when I took it apart. The car was very straight before taking it apart and it has all the original sheet metal - this is an Arizona car with zero rust. I appreciate any help - looked on YouTube but found nothing too specific. Than you

The obvious to me would be ensuring the car is not sitting on jack stands but instead sitting on the ground. Easy to introduce flex, twist, etc. sitting on stands.

If you also had the core support off, you'll need to square up the the fenders using an "X" pattern from the top cowl bolt to the same spot on one of the core support fender bolts. I would also make my alignments with the hood on as it will need to be involved in the alignment.
Shims, there could be a couple different shaped ones and there is typically a couple different thicknesses. They can exist at the top cowl bolt, the upper cowl side bolt and the two lower cowl bolts (I would tighten the lower bolts last). The lower two bolts can also be used to open or close the vertical contour a little.

I had issues squaring my front fenders and measuring diagonally across the fenders is the only way to get this correct. Here's a link to my build thread showing how I did this.
