Has anyone noticed that 71 cutlass grilles (not 442 grilles) seem to be mega rare! I have a 71 S that needs new grilles but I'm not sure I wanna slap some NOS or aftermarket 442 ones in. Mine currently has the Ugly (IMO) 72 Supreme grilles. I have lookes for used, NOS or aftermarket ones and it seems they just aren't out there! Anyone else have the same issues with their 71's?

 

When I bought my '71 S from my sister in law, it came with a pair of replacement grills that she said were "rarer than chickensteeth" and she had searched a long time before finding them...then paid a fair bit for them. So sounds as if they just might be a hard to source item.

You should keep that rare talk down it will drive the price even more. I recently posted a original pretty nice set, was asking $200 for the pair w/oldsmobile badge thought that was reasonable. People were trying to steal them $25,$50 saying there only $275 new. Ahhh but now there lies the difference Now I'm just hanging on to them.

 

If they are nice then I'd be interested. I don't low ball people but I try to pay what I feel they are worth.

 

I just sold a nice set of '71 S grills on ebay & I was surprised how high the bidding went, they sold for $202.00!

 

It's weird that the ugy(IMO)72 grills are all over the place! I hate those things! Can't understand why olds changed them! I'll prob add repro 442 grilles to my cutlass but I also hate the holes left by the emblems! Idk but it would be nice to find a clean set of 71s!
