70 Grille Restoration

Hello,
I'm in process of restoring my Cutlass S and need to strip the paint off of my plastic grille. Does anyone know of a way to remove the paint without damaging the plastic?
Thanks,

in my tailight thread, dsolomon added this comment "I have done this on a couple sets of tail lights. If you pull them off the car, soak them in a bucket of liquid drain cleaner over night. This will remove all of the paint but will not harm the plastic"

Or brake fluid. it won't hurt that plastic.

Thanks for the replies. How long does it take for the brake fluid to eat through the paint?

I would let it sit over night. Then judge form there.

That would be a huge amount of brake fluid to to soak a grill in. Not worth the cost. The drain cleaner would cost a lot less in bulk.

Started soaking the headlight pieces and paints coming off pretty good. Should start on the grilles tomorrow.
Thanks,

Grilles have been stripped using brake fluid. What a messy job. Tons of paint on these grilles. Will post pictures of the finished product.
Thanks,

if u filter the brake fluid when ur done. put it in another container and use it to strip paint again in the future(do not use it in car). The brake fluid might be a little more expensive but its works better and is better for the plastic.

Applied the first coat of paint and I might need to do more prep sanding as the defects are showing. This is a pain!
