need a little help here. sent out the rear trunk molding with the oldsmobile letters on it for chroming. chrome shop says some pitting and when got back they filled some of the pitting with a smooth compound. now i need to get a textured finish like factory. any suggestions before i paint

That looks bad. Are those really rough spots on the metal or did the paint crinkle? Try stripping it back down and go over the crinkle area with a wire brush and a die grinder lightly to see if it will smooth out to an even rough finish, steer clear of the areas that will stay chromed. Tape off the chromed strip on top before painting again.

I have wondered if you could tape off the letters and chrome and sand blast the black area with coarse sand to put texture in it.
