can any one tell me what (correct) position the trunk key should be in on my 1967 442? mine is parallel to the ground. Also, is it better to remove front and back window to do the headliner and package tray? I just brought the car home from paint shop 10/26/21!! trunk lock position
Does the lock cylinder turn back to the vertical position with the key in it? If it does, your return spring on the back of the lock cylinder may be broken.
You can't put the lock cylinder in wrong unless the stamping in the deck lid is damaged. In the picture below notice the two large cutouts and the two small offset ones. this only allows the lock cylinder to go in correctly one way.
