I bought my 1971 Cutlass S disassembled. How do the braces for the chrome hood louvers install?, under the hood or between the louver and hood bracing? It would seem that there is no support if installed between the hood and louver. Picture maybe?

They're installed between louver and hood. See attached pic from Service Manual. I would recommend investing in one of these manuals. especially when buying a car in pieces. Once you have one, you wonder how you ever did without. They're available on EBay all the time.

Awesome thanks, but just the outer bolts hold on the louver to the hood? the inside ones just attach the brace to the louver? or do they have big washers of some sort that are on the inside of the hood bracing?

As I recall, there are just (4) 1/4" thread cutting nuts that secure each louver to the hood. Make sure you get the right size or you can easily break off the studs by trying to force a smaller size. Those nuts usually go on without too much force. If you're having to really crank on them, stop and get a bigger size.
