455 CAMSHAFT issues

I decided to swap the mild cam and get a little more performance in my 455. cutlassefi, Mark suggested a erson tq-50 for my motor and was very helpful. He sent me the cam lifters and valve springs. i tried the springs, but they don't work with my comp cams retainers. Have any of you run the erson tq-50 cam in a mild build 455?

Were the cam bearings changed? If so, from the CSM, the bearings are location specific, with a unique order of installation.

The motor was rebuilt about 5000 or less miles ago. Nothing wrong with the motor, just wanted a little more performance. Cam bearings were changed when it was rebuilt and left alone for the cam change.

I have a dumb question, are all 4 camshaft journals the same diameter?

Still have to resolve the retainer problem. I do have a set of OEM retainers on a set of "C" heads, probably from 68 or 69. Should I try these or buy new ones from Erson?

Can anyone give me advice on my valve spring retainers? I have erson springs, the comp cam retainers don't fit. Should I try and use the old OEM retainers and keepers or order new ones from erson? Thanks

Well I finally got on this project again and seem to have found success. Quick shout out to Mark (cutlassefi) He hooked me up with the cam, lifters and matching springs and was helpful with all my questions before during and after the sale. Excellent to deal with, thank you Mark!!

My 455 is mostly stock 9.5 comp performer intake and C heads. I installed an Erson tq-50 cam, new lifters, valve springs, cloyes true roller chain and gears, mondello heat riser block off plates and valley tray. I also updated the valve train with a comp cams roller tip rocker kit and comp cams poly locks. Got it back together yesterday, fired it up and broke the cam in. Car is running good, although I think the jetting is lean. Chunky idle and makes more power mid and top end. I need to spend some time tuning as I think there is more power waiting to be unleashed.

If you need a cam, talk to Mark he'll hook you up!

I am thinking of ditching the edelbrock performer 750 carb. I'm thinking of a Quick Fuel SS 830 with mechanical secondaries or a Quick Fuel SS 780 vac. secondaries would either be a good carb for this combo? Car has a 4 speed and 3.55 gears. Thanks in advance!

Im using a friend's Holley 0-83870 870 cfm Aluminum Street Avenger vac secondaries. My car came alive before I had the Holley 750 vac secondaries. Im not going to give the carb back to him.

I run quick fuel SS 850 black diamond that was setup by Mark. Love the carb.
