external oil drain back

I have a friend that was telling me he seen a external oil drain back on an engine at a car show. I was doing some thinking on it and I would like to do that to my 455. Anyone think that is a bad idea or has anyone ever done that?

Quite a few turbo-diesel engines use them, principally to return oil from the turbo to the oil pan, but no need for it on your car and it's another potential leak source.

Yeah, "quite a few" as in all turbo motors, since the turbo bearing oil must drain back to the pan and there are no internal passageways for drain holes.
