This might be a stupid question but I noticed in some online videos of distributor installs that they have a o-ring and a gasket!!

I only have the o-ring..no gasket... will this cause a oil weep around the distributor .......should I just make one?

 

Olds engines do not have a distributor gasket.

In the fel pro gasket kits, there is a dist gasket. I always put it on when I install a dist. I trim the outside edge a hair to fit the recess where the dist mounts.
