Strange problems!

So after fighting with engine temp management, now I have a new strange problem. Traveling on the highway today and start to overheat look out the rearview mirror and notice white smoke so I assume a line or hose burst, pull off the road way raised the hood and found out that a trans line has burst no big deal. But I noticed that the carb have gas shooting one inch above the air horn never before have I seen this in a non fuel injected car, so I quests the float is stuck open or something, but this is a new carb, quada pain-in the a----! Has anyone ever seen this behavior before?

Stuck or there is something in the needle and seat stopping it from closing. Is your filter in place?

I removed the the filter and installed an inline see thought filter, the little small one tends to clog quickly.

They shouldn't clog quickly unless the there is some serious rust issue or other debris in the tank. I wouldn't trust one of those cheap plastic see-through filters on my lawn tractor. Get rid of the in line filter, reinstall the correct carb filter, and remove the air horn from the carb. Check for debris, make sure the float is good and hasn't soaked fuel, and make sure the needle and seat are in good condition.

I have 3 old cars with Q-jets that were properly rebuilt and start and run perfectly, and never stall. The filters in the carb get changed every 4 or 5 years, but I have NEVER had one clog.

You might have gotten some dirt in the fuel line when the inline filter was installed. I once installed a new steel line from the pump to the carb and neglected to flush it out. Dirt got on my needle/seat assembly and it was dumping gas into the carb because the needle wouldn't seal. That sounds like what I'd check first.

Your float may be hanging open and flooding the bowl.

Any updates? You said it was a new carb... is it a Demon? Demon carbs are very well known for having metal filing debris in the carbs brand new. Demon doesnt blow them through before they box them and ship them. Ive seen it first hand.

I second the filings in the Demons. All three of mine had it.
