455 Oil Pump Question

I am building a 455 for my 65 442 it will replace the 400 I have in it. The 455 I bought was the block, crank and heads. I took them into a engine builder and had him put the short block together. I am in the process of installing the oil pump and I did not find a gasket to fit between the pump and the engine, should there be one with it? Also with the oil pump, I recieved a white nylon collar it is about 1/2" ID x 5/8" OD and 2" long. I can not seem to figure out where that would go could someone help me with this?.

I really don't know. It's definitely not an original part.

I have often wondered why those are included with Oldsmobile gasket sets.

That white Nylon " thingy " also works to drive the Umbrella type valve seals that come in the gasket sets over the Valve stems...

I'm not sayin you should use those seals, I'm just sayin that nylon thing works as an install tool.

Yes, you can use lockwashers on them. Same goes for the bolt on pickup if it has one.

Mondello does sell a oil pump baffle that goes in between the oil pump and the main bearing cap.

Factory bolts sure do. Captive washers.

If you want it to stay together right, emulate the factory practice. I recommend using factory correct fasrteners.

Thats why i'm asking. I purchased my block already stripped, sans all bolts and HW.

To my knowlegdge and brief search, nobody makes a complete bolts set for olds motors. (not counting the Chinese chrome exterior bolt kits from ebay)

Would you know where i can get the right ones, otherwise, i'll just go to Fastenall and something that looks close.
