Edelbrock Heads

What vavle covers fit on edelbrock heads and harland sharp roller rockers

Stock covers if you run thick aftermarket gaskets or valve cover spacers.

you can get spacers too most of the speed shops sell them or Ebay.

I just googled tall oldsmobile valve covers, and got a set that were 1" taller than stock for like 30 bucks. cant remember from where.

How tall are the stock ones? I want to make sure I can still run power brakes/AC. I heard that 4" is too tall for a 455.
I am actually looking for some right now cause I am finishing a build and the engine shop needs them.

I am actually looking for some right now cause I am finishing a build and the engine shop needs them.
I am running the 1" taller valve covers to clear my roller rockers, I had to clearance the A/C box on the firewall to make it fit. I also use a smaller power brake booster. The other thing you have to consider is your Alternator and A/C compressor brackets...I had custom brackets made but it wasn't cheap.

These clear my HS rockers. Won't clear power brake booster though, not sure about A/C on the other side.

What size brake booster do you run? And did you just fiberglass the AC unit yourself? 1" taller equals what over all height?

Most guy's are probably running an 8 or 9" booster. The stock valve covers I have under my bench are 2 3/4" tall. You also have to allow for the oil baffle on the inside to clear the rockers. With my Scorpions, I had to use 3/8" aluminum spacers. With the stock 12" booster, it's tight and I will have to remove the booster to remove the valve cover. When I get to that point, I'll put in a smaller one.

Ok, so I talked to CPP and they recommended an 8" power booster for my application. How much did you have to shave off the AC unit to make it clear?

I got a 7" brake booster from Summit Racing for $100 or so. Here is the link to my build where I fiberglassed the A/C box:

Also don't forget what I mentioned about the A/C and Alternator brackets...they won't clear taller valve covers. You'll have to think of some other way to mount them.

I made a 1" spacer between the lower alternate bracket and the power steering bracket. Cut a little metal from the top bracket to clear the taller valve cover. Took about a hours worth of work. Haven't done the AC bracket yet but don't think it will be too hard to figure out depending on the AC unit I choose

Let me tell you how he probably does it. I've said this before the Poly locks are what normally hit the valve covers, not the rockers. Comp makes a shorter poly lock, Bill's a dealer for Comp.. I'll bet that's what's on there.

Lots of good info never thought a head change would require so much,i ordered arp studs and eldelbrock covers see how i make out with them.Now the fuel pump i guess is the next hurdle some say they can run stock and some electric and i am not cutting my new heads

Low and behold the stock fuel pump fits just lol got the heads on today and now i have to get a brake booster cant even get the last push rod in without removing it.My new carb and spacer will clear oai hood.So all good but alot more cleaning and painting.Have not drove it in 13 years and been in my shop for 4 so whats a little more time.
