need info on this engine #
I got the # 18436572 off of the engine of a 66 delta 88 with the letter "H" as well. Is there a way I can find out about this engine with the info I have above or can someone tell me about it like is it a 455 or 425 ect?
Thanks
Thanks
As noted above, 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2 is the firing order. The "H" refers to the intake manifold. Is this intake a 2bbl or 4bbl? EGR or no? The block casting number is located on the small "shelf" just above the water pump.
The standard engine in a 66 Delta was a 2bbl 425 High Compression. The HC engine had a orange/red air cleaner. A low compression version was availaible at no extra charge. The LC engine came with a black air cleaner housing. Two 4bbl 425's were available in the Delta. The single exhausted 4bbl that was the engine standard in the 98's for 1966 and the dual exhausted Starfire engine rated at 375HP.

I have 2 different engines for that number
389244D {1966-1967 425 w/45* lifter angle, lifter bore 0.842 & cyl bore 4.125}
389244D w/drill spot { 1966 425 w/39* lifter angle, lifter bore 0.921 & cyl bore 4.125}
I really don't know what "drill Spot" means

The drill spot is a dimple where a drill bit was touched to the surface. There was only one casting. The differences were in the machining of the rough casting.
