stupid question time
I got a set of guages for christmas, and can't find a place to put in the temp. guage, or the oil pressure guage...there is some wire coming out of the top of my water pump, but I can't find out if its the stock thermometer to the dummy light...
A)is there a way to tell if it is? service manual was useless...
B) is there a better place to put it?
C) where do I stick the oil pressure take-off
engine is a 1976 455 in a '76 cutlass wagon.

The water temperature sensor is right next to the water valve, and it's circled in yellow.
The oil pressure sensor is the lower one that looks like it's on the water pump, but it's really not. It's the one circled in orange.
You can easily verify that these are what they are by pulling the wires off the connectors and grounding them. Pull the wire off the oil pressure sensor and ground it with the ignition ON. The OIL light should go on and stay on. Ditto for the coolant temperature sensor.
I replaced both of these sensors on my '73 earlier this month. The coolant temp sensor was easy to remove, but it was a bear to get a wrench on the oil pressure sensor and get any leverage to turn it because it's down in a recess. I'm guessing it was the original, now 38-year-old unit, and it was on there good. But with enough PB Blaster and coaxing with various wrenches, it finally turned and came out smoothly. I put the new one in, and I actually had a functioning oil pressure light for the first time in who knows how long.
