Hello everyone, thanks for taking the time to read my thread and helping with my project. I just bought a 1972 olds 455 Ga heads F block. I don't know any history on the motor if it's been rebuilt or compression ratio cam etc.. It came out of a classic Ford F-150. It came with a TH350 trans. All I know is I heard the motor in the F-150 and it sounded good and healthy but when the guy delivered it the carb was off. He had a huge Edelbrock carb probably 750 or 800 cfm. So since I have to buy a carb now I need your guys help in selecting a good street performance carb and matching intake. My car is a 72 Cutlass S. I heard something about clearance issues so got to keep that in mind too. I can use my olds 350 mounts or if necessary I can buy 455 mounts. The car will be used as a weekend beast during winter only since I live in the Phoenix. Also give me link if you know of any good deals out there. Thank you very much for all the help, you guys have been really helpfull and the only reason why I haven't gave up and solds my dream car.

 

For a dependable street combo you could go with an Edelbrock Performer and an Edelbrock/Carter 750. It will run great and give you many years of dependable operation.

If you want to get a little more aggressive you could put the new Edelbrock Performer Air Gap on it but I'm not sure about clearance...you'd have to ask if it will fit under a stock hood. There are a couple of guys on here that have them so I'm hoping they will chime in.

 

Use whatever rubber mounts match the frame mounts in the car. If you have the stock frame mounts, use Anchor P/N 2261 rubber mounts. If you switch to the "BBO" frame mounts, use Anchor P/N 2328 rubber mounts. The end result will be the same - the 455 will sit in exactly the same place either way.
