Engine Stand/Base

Anyone know who sells the low profile engine stand/base that bolts to the motor mount area for mid sixties 400 block?

I need to transport the engine back and forth from the rebuild shop and Im thinking this is the way to go-

Thanks for the help-

Dave

Can you wled? Or know someone who can? Build your own as it is very easy. Two flat pieces of 1 1/2" flat steel with holes drilled so you can bolt it to the engine mount pads. Use 2 verticle sections of 1/8" angle iron. Weld those verticle pieces to the flat plate and to 2 horizontal pieces of the same angle iron that will sevre as the base that sits on the floor. You can take the lower base pieces far enough back toward the rear of the engine so you can bolt 2 more verticle pieces to the bellhousing area and weld them to the horizontal base pieces. Very easy to do and minimal cost in materials. I built one in about an hour.

If you can't weld its easy to build a wood cradle with a little scrap lumber.

Pretty sure no one sells an Olds version. There are Chevy versions that bolt to the bottom bellhousing bolts and the motor mount bolts. You MAY be able to redrill the Chevy side plates to fit the Olds mounts, but I suspect you would need to weld new plates on. The bottom bellhousing bolts and the bellhousing dowel pins are the same on both the Chevy and BOP bellhousings.

There's always the redneck way. Sit it on a few ole tires.

Seriously,

I'm with Richard. Bang together a few boards and you'll be fine.

There was someone on ROP selling a used one called a "rocket sled". I think there was an Olds guy selling these. Maybe Brad Wise is the one building them ???????

I was thinking more along these lines:

Note that the Chebby block side motor mount locations are angled. The Olds motor mount locations are vertical, so a modification to that plate is required. This stand is $35 from Speedway, and can be found for less elsewhere.

Yup, I make a nice unit just for the Olds engines, check my web page under products, or call direct 828 280-4741
I'll try to post a pic here.

$129.99 comes with grade 8 or stainless bolts and washers, caster kit is + $45.00.
I designed this years ago for myself for all the engines being transported, works great and easy to install/remove designed for a large oil pan, so no worries about fitment.
I have a few left in stock, epoxy primed and painted.
Thanks,
Brad @ WPE
