Who makes that "fireball" cam? I see that Crane makes the Fireball cam. Go to the Crane site and it'll tell you. If you don't post it soon, I'll look it up, just have some things I have to do right now.
Hey, and I like the 200R4 tranny, that's the way to go.

Most of the Fireball stuff is in the 220 range @ .050 and more often than not it's a single pattern.

Compression ratio? Headers? Manifolds? How much lift will your springs take?
You have a lot of options. Depending on your comp ratio I'd go with something in the low to mid 230 @ .050 range on the intake and around 240 or so on the exhaust if you have headers more duration on the exhaust if you don't, on a 110 for headers, 112 if not.
IMO get something ground for you, I can do it, Comp does it, Lunati does it, and it's just a few bucks more.

314 is probably the advertised duration, they were pretty lazy back then.

If you have at least 10.0:1 I'd go with something like a 236/244 on a 110 on at 106 or a little less duration but on a 108. Put some lift in it though, that'll give it longer legs without affecting the low rpm much at all.

By the way, have you thought about going with a hydraulic roller?

I have an old fireball 314 cam and still have the specs. The 314 is for the duration but they may have had different lift variations. I bought this in the 70's so I'm probably not helping much.

That's real close to a stock W30 cam. There are better grinds out there now.

I'd go roller, you'll never turn back.

I have an "F8" stamped on the end of the cam where the Crane 314 is stamped. Mine has maybe 2 hours on it. I've kept it all these years and probably won't use it on my new build, too much duration for my car. Auto with power brakes and 3.08 gears.

That cam is something to keep f/ old time's sake. I like having older stuff that you don't find much of anymore. Display it somehow creative mixed in w/ something. ie; I've seen old rail road carts turned into coffee tables w/ glass tops. Really cool. Nothing like automotive memorabilia(sp?).

You're asking again so O.K. here you go, I'll grind you an Erson, same as before. Specs would be your choice;

298/306 adv., 232/240 @ .050 on a 108, or a 302/310 adv., 236/244 @ .050 on a 110. Both would have .568 lift on intake and exhaust with 1.6 rockers. I'll do either one for $225.00 plus shipping with lifters. Or you can do a Thump'r style, 298/310 adv., 232/244 @.050 on a 108 in at 102. Just did 2 of those.

I'd go with the 236/244, but if really want to hear it do a version of the Thump'r. Jmo.

you think i would be happy with the 236/244? what do u think that would push me hp wise or torque wise?

are those rollers?

No, flat tappets, hydraulic. Roller is $625.00 plus shipping with lifters, any grind. That same combo with a similar roller makes 475+hp and 525+tq with 10.5:1. What's the compressio ratio going to end up at? Yes, I think you'd be happy with the 236/244. Still depends on your cr though.

i dont know how to find out the compression, its rebuilt c heads, flat top pistons bored .030, probably fel-pro head gasket.

My guess would be 9.8-10.0:1, that works.

Imo you probably don't want to go much more than that with cast iron heads.

I like the Comp XE274H if you have power brakes etc. and XE284H for more power over 4000 rpm compared to the 274.

You're certainly entitled to your opinion but imo not enough off the seat time. That cam would be better suited to a ported set of heads or Edelbrocks.

I'll stick with my original suggestion.
