Suggested Engine Rebuilder for a 67 442 400?
My 90 y/o father must have been having a bit too much fun and accidentally ended up over-revving the vehicle. At first, he thought it was just a lifter gone bad. However, the mechanic pointed out that there's no adequate oil pressure, and in his opinion the damage is probably more extensive probably cam related. Honestly, I am no expert, I can handle general repairs on my LS1, but internal engine work is kinds of my league anyway, as I am no expert.
If possible, I would love to just fix it, but if the cam is bad, I do not think there is much to really do. He is already sold on having a rebuild done or perhaps buying another Oldsmobile engine. I was wondering if you guys have any suggestions of a builder/rebuilder, possibly in the NY tri-state area, or perhaps the general east cost? Any held would be greatly appreciated.

There are many good engine builders especially for basically stock rebuilds. Rebuild the engine he has versus doing another build is my opinion. Basic engine rebuild any good machine shop can do, just ask if they are familiar with Oldsmobile engines.
Up in the NE is Bill Travato or slap it on a pallet and shoot it down to Mark (CutlassEFI) in Lakeland, FL. I'm sure someone else can chime in with another in the NE but freight for an engine won't change much if it's traveling east of the Mississippi.
