Rod weep holes
Rod weep holes
Hello. I'm refreshing a '68 455. The rods have weep holes (term?) and the old rod bearings are slotted on the side of the holes. My new bearings are not slotted.
Is this feature worth kepping? Thanks.

Olds did away with the slots in the rods after a while so I don't think they were as needed as some might think. I wouldn't worry about it much. I suppose if you wanted you could take a Dremel tool and make the cutouts in the bearings
The spurt holes were originally supposed to be oriented so the oil from the spurt would spray in the opposite cylinder bore and also lube the camshaft lobes. Don't know why that was discontinued.
