Mechanical Fuel pump question

Hey guys,

I just have a quick question regarding the mechanical fuel pump. If it is completely removed off the block should I be aware of anything?

I went to a FITECH EFI setup and removed the mechanical pump as it no longer has any use. But I am worried that something may leak out once the motor is started as there is a hole where the pump lever was inserted into. Should I just cover it up with a small piece of sheet metal and some pentax gasket maker?

thanks

That hole leads directly into the crankcase, so yes you need to block it off in order to keep oil inside the engine and dirt, water, etc. out of the engine.
