6-blade fan--need help

I need to find myself a 6-blade fan for my '68 442 engine. With the passing of my friend who had actually found me one, I'm kind of in the dark as to what to look for. Not sure what code is correct for '68.

If anyone out there has one, I'm interested.

No one has any knowledge about these? I was told my another Olds guy that he has never seen a 6-blade fan without a clutch on it. Is this true?

Every 6 blade fan I've seen had a clutch, but I'm not an expert on it. Funny thing though, my 1968 442 project car has a 4 core radiator and a 4 blade non-clutch fan, automatic transmission and AC car. If it was changed it was a long time ago as the car hasn't been licensed in over 20 years and the goop on the engine looks like it's not been touched long before that. On the other hand I have a 1968 350 that came out of a Cutlass 4 door and it had a 6 blade clutch fan on it. Not what I would have expected! John

Thanks John. That seems to corroborate what I've been told. Pretty funny with that set-up. Both my 442 (no A/C) and Cutlass S (A/C) both came with 4-blade fans. I figured it's probably a good idea to run a 6-blade as the car will definitely be getting use in AZ from time to time.

Okay, Tom here you go. AC and HD cool get the 6-blade with clutch, all others get 4-blade. Same for quite a few years. Attachment is from '69, but '68 is the same.

Tom (and anyone else): This is from the Olds Product Information Manual (aka "Assembly Manual". This is an absolute *must* have for your year of choice. It is by far the best $25.00 you'll ever spend on your car!
You'll be answering instead of asking the kind of question you asked here!!!!

Thanks! And I guess I should really start looking at my manual. Except one problem, my body guy has it! Perhaps I should buy another one and keep it here in NY.

Is the fan and clutch for a 350 the same as for a 400?

when I was given the 455 that now sets in my 57 Olds it came with a 5 blade clutch fan out of a 72 Olds. it cools the 40 over 455 with the stock 57 radiator just fine. In hot weather it sets at a cool 180 with a 180 stat
