The worth of a all original matching # 425 motor

Hello, we have a all original matching # 425 motor, that will run like a scawled dog. It is fantastic! Anyway, we purchased it in a 1971 Cutlass S. I also need to find out if this motor came in this car originally. We have had several interested people wanting to buy it, when we really haven't thought about selling the car. Then a guy told me last week that the motor was sorta rare and it may be worth a little. So, I would like to know what the motor is worth and if it came in the Cutlass S in 1971. I would appreciate any information. Thanks!

No, in 1971 Oldsmobile was already using the 350 small block and 455 big block. A 425 is a good motor and highly sought after, especially by people who want to restore a mid sixties car that had the 425 originally.

Thanks so much. We have thougth about just leaving it on the engine stand because we have disassembled the car and maybe dropping a 455 in it and just keeping the motor for a couple of years (letting it gain value, since the quy told us it was valueable). However, since we do have so many projects going on, if we could get quite abit for the motor, we could afford to finish one of the projects. After all, we have the 1971 cutlass S, 1971 Cutlass Supreme, and a 1984 all original SS monte carlo we are trying to finish. Also, we have a 1968 442 we are trying to figure out if we want to restore or sell. Either way it goes, I don't think we will drop the 425 back down in this car. Thanks for the information.
